Spring

Recently I had a conversation with a friend.  It went something like this: As we walked down a tree lined street in our community we observed the beauty all around us.  The trees were bright green with new leaves.  The mountains stood majestic with white capped snow.  My friend pointed out that this spring was one of the only times she remembers when the tulips and lilacs were both blooming at the same time.  This Spring has broken records for precipitation painting the world in green.  We marveled at how beautiful the flowers, shrubs, and trees were.  The sky was bright blue and the sun was radiant.

My friend told me of a mutual acquaintances we who is struggling with depression and disappointment.  My friend counseled her to take time to look around at the beauty around her.  Our acquaintance replied that she may be able to fit that in in two weeks.  Sad.  This is something we should do everyday as we go about our daily tasks.

Don't let a day go by that you don't look out your window and marvel at the beauty of the earth.  Better yet, take a walk just to get a closer look at the world and soak it all in.  I promise that any sadness or depression will be relieved as you marvel everyday at the beauty all around you.
